In 1959 he graduated from the
Panos Terlemezyan College of Fine Arts.
In 1966 he graduated from the
Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts and Theater.
He has created in the fields of monumental,
machine, decorative sculpture.
The works are kept in the
National Gallery of Armenia,
Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow),
museums of different countries,
in private collections.
Benik Petrosyan's works have been exhibited
not only in the homeland,
but also in the former Soviet Union,
including Romania, Yugoslavia,
Canada, Japan, Syria, Poland, Germany,
the Netherlands, France,
and the United States.
On December 22, 2010,
with the support of the Ministry of Culture
of the Republic of Armenia,
a monument to Benik Petrosyan
was unveiled at 9 Tumanyan Street.
