1899 –born in Tiflis, Georgia.
1909-1918 – studied at the Nersissian’s theological seminary, also attended drawing classes at R. Shamshinian’s studio, Tiflis.
1914-1918 – attended Art school of the Caucasian Association of Fine Arts encouragement. Yeghishe Tadevossian studio, Tiflis.
1918-1919 – lived in Moscow and studies at the State free art Studios under the supervision of
P. Konchalovsky.
Since 1921 – Professor at the State Higher Arts and Technical Studios.
1923 – settled in Paris.
Since 1923 – had numerous personal exhibitions (mainly in Paris).
1924-1926 – took part in the exhibitions of the “Salon of Independents” and “Autumn Salon.”
1928 - opening of "Kochar's painting in space" exhibition in "Van Leer" gallery in Paris.
1936 – emigrated to Soviet Union.
Since 1956 – Honored Artist of Armenia.
1965 – first personal exhibition in Yerevan. Was awarded the title of People Artist of Armenia.
1967 – was awarded the State Prize of Armenia for the monument “Davit of Sassoun.”
Since 1976 –Peoples artist of the USSR.
1979 – died in Yerevan.
The works are kept in the Kochar Museum (Yerevan), NGA (Yerevan), Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow), Pompidou Centre (Paris), Gulbenkian Museum (Lisbon) and several private collections in Armenia and abroad.
