Nalbandian Dmitry (1906-1993)

1906 - born in Tbilisi.
1922 - entered Art College, Tbilisi.
1924-1929 - studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Tbilisi, in E.Lanceray and E. Tatevosyan studios.
1947 – took part in the organization of the USSR Academy of Arts.
1946, 1951 – the winner of Stalin Prize.
Since 1953 - member of the USSR Academy of Arts.
Since 1969 - People's Artist of the USSR.
Since 1976 - Hero of Socialist Labor.
1978 – was awarded Gold Medal of the Art Academy of the USSR.
1982 - was awarded the Lenin Prize.
Winner of Jawaharlal Nehru Prize.
1993 - died in Moscow.
The works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), NGA (Yerevan), in the collections of leading museums of the republics of former Soviet Union, since 1982 his "Self Portrait" is represented in the “Uffizi” gallery (Florence), State studio-museum of D.Nalbandyan, (Moscow).
